An Amersham man has realised an ambition to become his own boss after establishing an oven valeting firm in the town.
Keith Woolfrey has launched Ovenu Amersham after spending more than 30 years’ working for a manufacturer of display material, initially as an estimator and more recently as a senior account manager.
Keith, 51, who is from Amersham, is eyeing up expansion of the venture with plans in place to recruit a sub-contractor.
He said: “Having worked for many years, I was looking for something that would give more control and flexibility to be able to manage my work-life balance better. I have always wanted to work for myself and this is the ideal opportunity for me that I am relishing.
“I have lived in the town for a number of years, so I know it well and hopefully I’ll be able to establish a thriving small business that I plan to grow with the support of sub-contractors in the future. I am now looking forward to the challenge and getting to know my customers.”
Ovenu Amersham serves homes and businesses throughout the town, as well as in Chesham, Beaconsfield, Rickmansworth and surrounding areas.
Ovenu is a franchise network made up of more than 100 businesses owned by men and women working throughout the UK.
Rik Hellewell, Founder and Managing Director of Ovenu, added: “It is never easy going it alone in business, which is why the franchising route can be appealing to people like Keith as there is constant support in the background. Keith has enjoyed a longstanding career dealing with customers, which will stand him in good stead, and I’d like to wish him all the very best with his new venture.”
The Ovenu valeting process involves dismantling key components of an oven such as the door, interior panels, fan and shelves and placing them into design-registered tank equipment, which uses safe, non-caustic products to clean the oven parts. The whole process takes around three to four hours and leaves the oven, hob and exterior in immaculate condition.
"I have lived in the town for a number of years, so I know it well and hopefully Ill be able to establish a thriving business that I plan to grow with the support of sub-contractors in the future."
