Bromley Care home, Lauriston House, welcomed ‘The King’.
Residents, staff and visitors were up shaking those hips and having a fantastic time.
One of the residents, 94 years young, Uschi Braddon, kept an eye on Elvis throughout his performance and snapped a cheeky selfie afterwards. Uschi said: “It made my day and I felt 18 again!”
The performance was followed by tea and cake and games in the garden.
As the day ended, Uschi said: “We’ll be booking him for our next show.”
Stella Barnes, home manager at Lauriston House said: “Every year, care homes across the country open their doors to the public for National Care Home Open Day.
“The 2019 theme was ‘Celebrating Arts in Care’ and who can deny the art of Elvis and the entertainment provided for residents and staff. It’s really beneficial for our residents, especially those living with dementia, to share songs and memories and have some fun.
“We’re really proud to be part of the community in Bromley and it’s great when local entertainers celebrate with us but anyone who wants to drop by and say hello to our staff and residents will be welcomed with at least a cup of tea.
“After all this is not a Heartbreak Hotel.”
Lauriston House Care Home forms part of Larchwood Care and is managed by Healthcare Management Solutions. 79% of Larchwood Care Homes are rated as ‘Good’ or above by the CQC, above the industry average.
